This New Right-Wing Dating Site Is Hinting It Might Actually Sue Liberals Who Join

It’s not unusual for a dating site, or even an app, to have a particular niche of person it wants to attract. And with the current state of politics in the United States, I guess it shouldn’t be all that surprising that a right-wing dating site would exist, meant as a place where conservatives can find love without having to sift through people diametrically opposed to the GOP’s agenda. But a new site called ‘Righter’ is taking that very seriously.

Founded by a woman named Christy Edwards Lawton, Righter is meant for — in the words of this Daily Beast profile on the new right-wing dating site — “Trump supporters who have been rejected on more mainstream dating apps over their political beliefs.” Lawton was inspired to start the site after she met a “gorgeous” woman at a New York party who couldn’t find a man because she’d voted for Trump.

Now, only a liberal with way too much time on his or her hands would feel like joining Righter, but just in case, Lawton has taken precautions. She tells the Daily Beast about non-Trump supporters who would dare log on to her site:

I have a very nice legal team that will be handling that. This is zero tolerance.

Legally speaking, Lawton would likely be particularly disappointed to discover there’s not a thing she could do in a court of law were a blue-blooded liberal to sign up for Righter. Sure, she could ask them to leave, maybe even delete their account, but a judge wouldn’t embarrass him or herself enough to actually preside over such a ridiculous case.

Check out this Instagram post by Righter, which utilizes the recent migrant crisis to encourage sign-ups:

Righter also has some interesting quirks that set it apart from competing dating sites. For starters, a male user on the site can be reported if he doesn’t pay for the first date. The app will reportedly be policed for photoshopped or doctored photos that attempt to make a person look younger or more attractive. And unlike Bumble, where women must initiate an interaction, on Righter, Lawton says, “men initiate, women respond.” Also, members of the military on Righter can score the site’s free premium version.

If anything, the existence of Righter — and the drastic steps this right-wing dating site is willing to take to ensure it’s a safe space free of Trump hate — go to show the true divisiveness that has overtaken the United States under the current administration. Will things ever go back to normal?

Back in October we reported on Donald Daters, a dating app for Trump supporters that unfortunately leaked its users’ private info on its very first day. Whoops.

What do you think of right-wing dating site Righter? Do you know anyone who would use it?
